07 октября 2026 года состоялось заседание Объединенного ученого совета ВолНЦ РАН, на котором был представлен доклад заведующего центром исследования пространственного развития социально-экономических систем ФГБУН ВолНЦ РАН, в.н.с. д.э.н. С.А. Кожевникова на тему «Стратегические приоритеты и инструменты обеспечения сбалансированного пространственного развития макрорегиона в условиях вызовов внешней и внутренней среды».

The magazine was founded in 2015. The editor–in-chief is A.A. Shabunova, Director of the Vologda Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Economics. The publication has been assigned category K2 in the List of the Higher Attestation Commission.

On September 24, 2026, at the meeting of the permanent seminar "Social Economics" within the framework of the scientific school "Problems of socio-demographic development of territories" (head - Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor A.A. Shabunova), A.A. Kolesov, M.Sc. of the Center for Socio–Demographic Research of the VolSC RAS, presented for discussion a report on the results of a study on forecasting the expected the duration of a healthy life.

On September 29 – October 1, 2026, Vologda hosted the All-Russian Forum "Structural Transformations of the Economy: Academic Research and Business Practice", organized by the Vologda Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Department of Social Sciences and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Vologda City Administration, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Vologda Region, the Vologda Regional Public Organization Free Economic Society of Russia LLC. Its program included the All-Russian scientific and practical conference "Development of value Chains in the Russian economy: territorial, sectoral and corporate aspects", a scientific and practical seminar, a public lecture by Professor D.B. Kuvalin and working meetings with government and business representatives. The key topic was the development of national value chains as a response to the challenges of economic restructuring.

The journal was founded in 1997, and its founder is the Vologda Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The publication has been assigned category K1 in the List of the Higher Attestation Commission, it is included in the second level of the Unified State List of Scientific Publications. A full-text English-language version of the magazine has been published since October 2025.

The Baikal International Demographic Forum was held in Irkutsk from September 14 to 18, 2026. Scientists and experts discussed key issues of sustainable development of territories, paying special attention to socio-demographic and ecological-geographical factors, the role of the largest agglomerations in settlement processes and the prospects for the economic development of small and medium-sized cities. At the breakout sessions, the staff of the VolSC RAS – Director of the Center, Doctor of Economics A.A. Shabunova, Senior Researcher, Doctor of Economics A.V. Popov, Senior Researcher A.V. Korolenko, Senior Researcher O.N. Kalachikova and Senior researcher Yu.E. Shmatova – presented research on the scientific potential of the system monitoring demographic processes in the Northwestern Federal District, intersectoral interaction and the ecosystem of sustainable development of local territories, the interaction of actors of ecosystems of sustainable development in solving the problems of small towns, the demographic development of territories in the context of the influence of agglomerations, the demographic potential of small towns and the social integration of the older generation as a factor of health and well-being.

On September 30, 2026, in Vologda, within the framework of the All-Russian Forum "Structural Transformations of the Economy: Academic Research and Business Practice", organized by the Vologda Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Department of Social Sciences and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Vologda City Administration, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the Vologda Region, the Vologda Regional Public Organization LLCThe Free Economic Society of Russia", hosted a public lecture by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor D.B. Kuvalin, on the contradictions between the goals of Russia's economic development and current macro-financial policy. Within the framework of the event, S.A. Kozhevnikov, Doctor of Economics, Senior Researcher, Head of the Center for the Study of Spatial Development of Socio-economic Systems at the VolSC RAS, also delivered a co-report on the problems of spatial development in Russia.

Kuvalin, Doctor of Economics, Professor "Contradictions between the goals of Russia's economic development and macrofinancial policy", as well as working meetings with government and business representatives. On September 22, 2026, Shirokov, M.Sc., of the Center for Structural Research and Forecasting of Territorial Development, at a meeting of the permanent scientific discussion seminar "Regional Economics and Management" within the framework of the scientific school "Theory and Methodology of Management of Sustainable socio-economic development of regional Systems" (head - Doctor of Economics, Professor T.V. Uskova) She presented for discussion a report on the results of a study of the manufacturing sector of the economy of the North-West of Russia in 2022-2026 based on surveys of business leaders.

The all-Russian educational campaign "All-Russian Economic Dictation" will be held on October 14, 2026 in all regions of Russia, as well as in foreign countries.

The action was organized by the Free Economic Society of Russia with the participation of the Russian Historical Society, the Yuri Luzhkov Foundation, the administrations of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, leading universities of the Russian Federation, with the support of the TASS news agency, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and the Ekonomicheskaya Gazeta Publishing House.

On September 29 – October 1, 2026, the VolSC RAS will host the All-Russian Forum "Structural Transformations of the Economy: Academic Research and Business Practice", which will become a platform for discussing problems and finding evidence-based answers to challenges related to the transformation of value chains, changing the spatial organization of the economy and staffing structural transformations. The forum will host the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Development of value Chains in the Russian Economy: territorial, sectoral and corporate aspects", held within the framework of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research Grant No. 24-18-01067 on the topic: "Transformation of value chains in the Russian economy in new geopolitical conditions: intersectoral, sectoral and corporate cross-section", scientific and practical seminar "Academic Science in solving the problems of structural restructuring of the economy: the experience of the National Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences", working meetings with representatives of government and business, as well as a public lecture by D.B. Kuvalin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, "Contradictions between the goals of Russia's economic development and macrofinancial policy". Experts from scientific and educational institutions, representatives of government authorities, development institutions, and business structures involved in the development of value chains, economic restructuring, territorial organization of the economy, and staffing of economic sectors are invited to participate.

On September 30, 2026, within the framework of the forum "Structural Transformations of the Economy: Academic Research and Business Practice", organized by the VolSC RAS, a public lecture by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor D.B. Kuvalin, on the topic "Contradictions between the goals of Russia's economic development and macrofinancial policy" will be held.

The scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation is awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding abilities in academic and scientific activities (winning Olympiads and competitions, participating in research grants, publications, etc.). The winners of the scholarship included first- and second-year undergraduates of the VolSC RAS: laboratory researcher at the Center for Socio-Demographic Research Alina Alekseevna Galibina, research engineer at the Center for Socio-Cultural and Political Studies Nikolai Nikolaevich Mikhalko, laboratory researcher at the Center for Spatial Development of Socio-Economic Systems Nadezhda Pavlovna Ulyticheva. Young scientists have been awarded a scholarship by the Government of the Russian Federation for the second time (following the results of 2025 and 2026), which confirms the high level of their research competencies and the importance of the scientific results obtained for solving urgent socio-economic problems.

On September 17, 2026, in the framework of the scientific discussion club of the Council of Young Scientists, the scientific debate "Remote work: freedom and flexibility or the erosion of labor discipline?" was held at the VolSC RAS. The event was attended by undergraduates and staff of the VolSC RAS. The Approval team represented the position of defending the freedom and flexibility of remote work. The denial team refuted this thesis, defending its position on the erosion of labor discipline.

On September 4, 2026, a meeting of the institution's staff with the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Vologda Region, R.Y. Zavarin, and candidate for deputy, E.L. Kudryavtseva, took place at the VolSC RAS. The event was held as part of the election campaign in Vologda region and was devoted to the issues of staffing the region, professional orientation of young people and the development of scientific and educational infrastructure.
